Lights! Camera! Action! The students in this photo get ready to role play in front of the green-screen or play a bit of “Where’s Pippi?” On February 20, 2015, Maine South Fine Arts Department sponsored "Up for an Adventure," a Fine Arts Day for all 3rd graders in District 64. Here, a few third graders are given an emotion to act out with one of the “Pippi” cast members from the winter play, Pippi Longstocking, in front of the green-screen while the rest of the group observes the technical aspects of the scene from the Maine South Broadcast Control Room. Students experienced the story of Pippi Longstocking through Drama, Music, Visual Art, and Broadcasting. The purpose of the event was to increase exposure to the arts.
The day was partially supported by an Arts in Education Grant from the Park Ridge Cultural Arts Council and funded in part by the Illinois Arts Council.
